Okay, not really. ( The Pittsburgh Steelers won (yay! congrats soupy meg<\/strong><\/a> and other steeler nation peeps!)<\/p>\n

You know the ad. “Big Ben, you just won the super bowl, whaddaya gonna do now?”<\/p>\n

And Big Ben (or insert winning quarterback here) says “I’m going to Disneyworld!!! Tm”<\/p>\n

So I didn’t win the superbowl and I’m not going to Disneyworld, but stay with me… it’s a metaphor.<\/p>\n

Cause the thing is, I kinda DID win the superbowl, in that I’m looking around and I see that I have a LOT. I have, in fact, all the things I want and have wanted for so so long. (okay sure a million bucks or financial security for life and a book deal with finished manuscript in hand would be nice but….) and for the first time in a while I’m happy, really happy. As a baseline. I have my honey and the house and the dogs. I have amazing friends, A JOB (is it perfect? no. I mean YES fellow Goverment Office Where I’m Employed peeps. but I have three good friends getting very bad job news in recent days and watched a special where citizens lined up AROUND the BLOCK to get to a job fair. so yes, my job with bright people I respect who respect me back, a flexible schedule, a great salary and benefits, and FRIENDS, it seems pretty great right now).<\/p>\n

So yah, I’m looking around and things are good. REALLY good. as a baseline, just normally regularly good. And I was happy. And that felt strange. Really strange. And I heard myself saying “and now what?”<\/p>\n

Go to Disneyworld? Well yah, there will be storybook journeys in our future, actual and metaphorical (weddings and castles to build and friends to travel with…) but that wasn’t what was needed.<\/p>\n

What was? Sitting back, looking around, saying this is my life, my regular normal reality and it is a good one. I’m okay, I’m happy, NORMALLY now.<\/p>\n

And sometimes… sometimes I’m very VERY happy. Sometimes, when the dog rests her head on my foot and exposes her soft fuzzy belly and my love is walking through the door, and I’ve been productive and helpful and connected at work, and had cinammon toast for dinner and Top Chef is coming on and I’m writing again when life is very very good indeed. I’ve won the superbowl and it wasn’t a fluke – I’ve got a great team that worked hard.<\/p>\n

Now what? I’m staying right here.<\/p>\n
