Facebook, will you stop at nothing?

So, today’s “random” facebook ad was a departure from the slew of “lose weight for your wedding” themed missives. (Thanks Facebook! runs off in a huff, slamming doors and crying.)

Nope, today, facebook was telling me I needed vagisoft. MUCCCHHH better right? Well yes and no. it’s not what you’re thinking. or is it? Well, anyway, apparently vagisoft is pants (soylent green is people) and they are really really REALLY soft, according to their website, THE CORDAROUNDS BLOG, which, in fact, declares them

softer than a silkworm’s anus.

Seriously. That’s what it said.
And then they illustrated it, here: Read the rest of this entry »

WASH / WORDS = Niche

While this blog has covered a lot of topics (go to the upper right corner search box and search for just about anything if ya don’t believe me), I’m trying to REIN IN.

Focusing is tough when you’re as (unofficially) ADD as me but I’m learning formally (oh, btw you MUST check out the 30 Day Challenge, if you have ANY interest in internet marketing or the internet or marketing or…) and informally, focus is key. (Oh look! Bright shiny objects! Hmm, this is gonna be tougher than I thought.)

Anywho, this blog needs to start being about something. So I started thinking … what did I want it to be about – what do I care about, think others care about and think I have something to say about?

And then I remembered: Oh yah! Washington DC (Wash) and Writing (Words). Thus, the new new sidebars (look to the right of this post for the blue side-by-side boxes labelled “WASH” and “WORDS.” They’ll be changing each day with relevant posts from each subject area I’m following/reading and enjoying. Like the Interweb? Like Money? You’ll love 30DC

So this one goes out to all my bloggy pals, wanna-be-bloggers, those who like any of the following things: money, the interweb, blogging, internet marketing.

Nope I get nothing for this. Nope, there’s no cost, charge, catch or other craziness. This is simply a program started by now Internet Supastahs, Ed Dale and Dan Raines to teach we newbies about internet marketing.

The Thirty Day Challenge

What’s the challenge: You will make $10 online in 30 days. (Okay 31, who’s counting?)

Why am I telling you? I stumbled upon this a little over a month ago. I literally can’t remember how. I signed up, did the “preseason” and learned a TON (how to use social marketing tools like twitter, friendfeed; how to find people out in cyberspace with like interests/goals, professional backgrounds; the best way to keep track of all the blogs I like to read, how to start thinking about a blog on my own domain, launching a podcast, employing video.) Besides which I “met” some great friends (and a hillarious, patient, great teacher in Ed Dale, Australian web-preneur. And have participated in some wonderful conversations about the future of journalism, new media, old media, Washington, writing (my personal interests or “niches.”) You could do the same for whatever you’re into.

Yes, these guys have a product that the “rest of the year” they try to sell, but not in August. Not to you. Nor will I.

Thirty day challenge starts today, August 1. I recommend perusing the pre-season cheat sheet, joining the forums and letting me know you’re there, too. It can be a bit overwhelming

Can’t wait to see ya there.
