tulips I’ve known and loved -dupont

DC in the springtime is breathtakingly beautiful. My
Flickr set features some of my favorite tulips from in and around my immediate neighborhood. I took all of these between 16th and 19th NW, from about P to S streets. There are about a zillion more.

And, shh, my own illicitly planted tulips (a modern-day robin hood am I!) are hidden in this bunch. I’ll let you guess which ones.

Cheers and happy spring.

Ah, the tulips, the colors. Hopefully DC will still be in full bloom when I get there in June. (I know the cherry blossoms will be gone…alas.)

I heard an ugly rumor that your tulips are VIRGINIA tulips that you have transported across state/district lines in your attempt to get flowers in your big city apartment complex.

You should check out the tulips at the Wardman in Woodley Park — they are amazing. Bonus if you find out when they dig them up after the bloom is done — they let you take as many bulbs as you can carry.

I have totally done this! and totally agree with you! I LOVE the wardman park ones. Someone recently told me that there is a TULIP “library” downtown with different species collected. “Me,” that sounds like something you’d be up for, so we could settle DC vs. the ARL once and for all! (and p.s. my tulips are from HOLLAND, not vienna, va. 🙂 )
