Subject: Rapid Fox
To: Arlington Alert SubscribersA fox that bit a woman in south Arlington has tested positive for rabies, Arlington public health officials have confirmed today.
————————
No word yet on if this fox is THE quick brown fox that jumped over the lazy [edit 5/25, thanks to many, many, many smart cookie readers – ahem, “some guy named me” ] river DOG [/edit], but I’m guessing the folks at Arlington Alerts could use the typing as well as the spelling class. Also, word is this incident actually happened a week ago. BUT STILL!!!!
Special thanks to my Arlington bureau for this report!

This kind of thing just makes me cringe. At
least they didn’t describe it as
“rabbit”.

This is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. Does no one proofread anymore? It’s bad enough that they don’t know the rules in the first place, but what ever happened to a second pair of eyes? I catch major typos on CNN all the time. HONESTLY, PEOPLE. Dammit.

Glad I’m not the only one. Front page of the Washington Post Express yesterday (a throw away paper granted, but still… I’m convinced it’s run by teenagers): “Diva Los Vegas” (headline about Cher).
Sigh. this isn’t a typo, this is thinking las vegas’s name is LOS vegas. So failure on U.S. Geography, English and Spanish. sigh.
Methinks I have my next “page” idea in the making.

Why do you assume that’s a typo? Have you ever seen a fox run? They’re very rapid. That the fox was also rabid may have made it a rabid rapid fox, or a rapid rabid fox, but I don’t think they were necessarily wrong to label it rapid.

dang. yes, pablo, you are correct. I DID mean lazy brown DOG. dang. helps in a post about spelling errors to get your typing exercises right. 😉 You’re the second person to point this out and I didn’t make the fix yet. (unless you’re “me” ? you’re not right?)
