Home (the REAL home post)
Written by
washwords on June 28, 2008 – 8:15 amThe real reason I’ve been thinking about home is that I might be leaving this one soon. This one, being downtown, “THE city” (sorry, nyc), my hipster dupont city girl pad, my newly-divorced-to-single woman pad.
And, to top it off, I might be moving to … Northern Virginia, land of my constant mockery lo these many months! Oh the horror!
But the thing is, ultimately, home is “who”. Home is who you love, where you love, and cliche’ or not, home is where the heart is. Absent “blue pearl” granite even, home is where my love is, where we both can be, and where we can be together. Home is love and I have found it.

Occam’s Razor reversed: or how to make something simple complicated
Written by
washwords on May 13, 2008 – 3:46 pmI am continually trying to clean up / clear out / streamline my beautifully renovated Dupont Circle Coop.
To that end a few MONTHS ago, I posted a note on my apartment message board that I was selling a bunch of furniture.
Someone inquired about an old camping table I was selling. Originally purchased for about $50, I was offering it for $15.
The conversation on said $50-reduced-to-$15, used once, snap-together table went like this:
Washy: I’ll be home after 6, apt. #12345 - I was asking $15 but it’s negotiable. I also have an ikea coffee table!
Tablebuyer: I’ll tell one of my sons to stop by.
How much was the table new?
Washy: Actually, I just looked it up and saw it for $58. I paid a little less than that I think, but do think it was close to $50 - so bargain! glad you inquired. Read more »

Tulips two
Written by
washwords on May 4, 2008 – 12:30 pmSDSingleGirl’s comment on my first photo post below reminded me that I’d actually been intending to say a bit more about tulips and my love for them. (Thought I’d post again in the spirit of transparency/not editing after the fact, and okay, so I could have an excuse to perfect my photoblogging and share more beautiful tulips with all of you.
